Job Description

About the role:

The Resource Management Advisor supports the business by providing expert advice on resource management and other land-based matters as well as preparing and reviewing all relevant applications.  You will ensure MainPower’s interests  are maintained through leading submissions and input into local and national planning reviews and building relationships with all stakeholders and external advisors.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting MainPower to deliver our asset management plan along with other non-network initiatives through:

  • Preparation of applications for resource consents, outline plans and notices of requirement
  • Guiding MainPower staff and contractors on compliance with resource consents
  • Providing sound environmental planning advice to internal customers
  • Ensuring all relevant approvals including grants, access rights and archaeological authorities are obtained
  • Managing stakeholder relationships

About you:

You’re an experienced environmental planner with a passion for sustainable infrastructure. You thrive in collaborative environments and are confident managing multiple projects and stakeholders. Your communication skills and strategic thinking set you apart.

Additionally, you will bring: (the qualifications or specifics for the role)

  • A relevant qualification in environmental planning or equivalent science or legal qualification
  • Associate or full membership of New Zealand Planning Institute or membership of Resource Management Law Association
  • At least 7 years’ experience in environmental planning
  • A strong understanding of environmental legislation
  • The ability to champion and embed where required, environmental planning processes
