Job Description

About the role:

Reporting to the Engineering & Design Manager, you will be pivotal in the design and development of our network protection systems, as well as aspects of automation and data communications. In this role you will:

  • Provide design expertise on new build and brown-field substations and distribution projects, technology innovations, and solution studies.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies, undertake fault investigations, and offer engineering support to other business teams. 
  • Lead and review designs, develop, and support our protection, automation, and communications systems.
  • Take a Project Engineer role on key projects.
  • Maintain high quality technical specifications and standards.
  • Drive improvements in business processes, network operation, equipment functionality, and safety

About you:

We would love to hear from you if you are a skilled engineer with a passion for protection systems and a commitment to excellence. You will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years in protection design and analysis for electrical distribution or transmission networks.
  • Experience with network modelling tools such as PowerFactory or PSS SINCAL.
  • Technical knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning skills to ensure priorities and tasks are completed on time.

In addition, the following experience would be desirable:

  • Network communications technology, including IEC 61850 and DNP3
  • Automation systems in electricity networks
  • Protection systems asset commissioning
  • Computer Aided Design
